Building the Workforce of Tomorrow
The mission of the Apprenticeship Readiness Fund is to break down barriers and forge direct links to union construction careers. Through free MC3 training, mentorship, and career navigation, we help participants discover the trade that fits them best and support them every step of the way toward apprenticeship and beyond.
By supporting participants from training through placement, we build lasting careers, increase apprenticeship retention, and strengthen the future of the construction industry.
The Apprenticeship Readiness Fund works directly with the affiliated unions of the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, alongside workforce development programs and signatory employers, to create clear pathways for individuals to enter the skilled trades.

Opening Doors to Union Careers
The Apprenticeship Readiness Fund offers a wide range of services aimed at preparing individuals for successful careers in construction, including:

What is MC3 Training?
The Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) is a nationally recognized training developed by NABTU and administered by TradesFutures to prepare individuals for success in union construction careers. Participants complete a minimum of 120 hours of classroom learning and hands-on experience. They gain skills in safety, math, blueprint reading, financial literacy, and green construction. They earn additional industry-recognized certifications Such as OSHA 10, CPR, and First Aid.
Unions use MC3 because it provides a consistent and high-quality foundation that helps participants succeed in apprenticeship, remain in the trades, and grow into long-term careers. It creates a proven entry point to stable, well-paying union jobs, ensures participants are fully prepared and supported, and delivers motivated, job-ready candidates who strengthen the construction workforce.
